This privacy policy explains what information ElectronicDrumSets.net (“the site”, “we”, “us”) collects when you visit, how it is used and what choices you have. The site is a content site built on WordPress. It has no user accounts, no paid memberships and no online store.
If you have questions about this policy, email hello@electronicdrumsets.net.
Information we collect
Information you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and, if you report an error, to fix the page. We do not add you to a mailing list.
The site does not currently offer comments, accounts or newsletter sign-ups. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, the site collects some technical information when you visit:
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard log data such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, the referring page and the date and time of the request. This is used for security, troubleshooting and preventing abuse.
- Basic analytics. We use an analytics tool to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are popular and how people find them. We look at this data in aggregate and do not use it to identify individual visitors.
- Store link clicks. Store buttons go through links on this site that start with /go/. When you click one, the site adds one to a simple click total for that product. It does not record who clicked, and it does not set a cookie.
- Cookies. Small files stored by your browser. See the cookies section below.
Cookies
The site uses a small number of cookies.
- Technical cookies that WordPress or the hosting provider may set to make the site load and work correctly. Visitors do not log in, so there are no account cookies.
- Analytics cookies, if the analytics tool uses them, to measure traffic and page performance.
- Affiliate partner cookies. When you click a link to a retailer that runs an affiliate program, that retailer or its affiliate network may set a cookie in your browser. This cookie tells the retailer that you came from our site, so that a commission can be credited if you make a purchase. These cookies are set by the partner, not by us, and are governed by the partner’s own privacy policy.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies will not stop the site from working, though affiliate partners may not be able to credit a referral.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Run, secure and maintain the site
- Understand which content is useful and improve it
- Reply to messages you send us
- Earn affiliate commissions through partner links, as explained on the affiliate disclosure page
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for targeted advertising on the site.
Third parties
Some services we rely on process data on our behalf or independently:
- Hosting provider, which stores server logs
- Analytics provider, which processes visit data
- Affiliate partners and networks, which set their own cookies when you click their links
- Embedded content. The site does not currently embed videos or retailer widgets. If it adds them, those services may collect data as if you visited their site directly, and this policy will say so.
Each third party handles data under its own privacy policy, and we are not responsible for the practices of sites we link to.
Data retention
Emails are kept only as long as they are useful for answering you or keeping a record of a correction. You can ask for your emails to be deleted at any time. Server logs and analytics data are kept for the periods set by the hosting and analytics providers.
Your choices and rights
You can:
- Block or delete cookies in your browser
- Use browser settings or extensions that limit tracking
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@electronicdrumsets.net
Depending on where you live, such as California or other US states with privacy laws, you may have additional rights to access, correct or delete personal information, and to opt out of certain data uses. Email us and we will answer your request. If you want to limit affiliate partner cookies, block third-party cookies in your browser.
Children’s privacy
The site is written for adults, including parents researching kits for their children. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the site and the limited data it holds, such as serving the site over HTTPS and keeping WordPress and its plugins updated. No website can guarantee complete security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site changes or laws change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
